SYNOPSIS

Communication plays an essential role in our workplace—and beyond. It is the engine that propels virtually all progress as well as relations. Without good communication skills, people in large and small organisations stand little chance of showcasing their inert talent, writing clear business propositions, obtaining necessary funds, attracting a wide audience when giving a talk, or getting a new job. In the business world, even the most promising discovery means little if it cannot be communicated successfully. In fact, it is more often the case that advancements are limited not by individual’s technical merit but by their inability ineffective articulation. Thus, clear communication is a necessity, not an option, for all aspiring workers in all industries.

This course is intended as a freestanding course on ‘Effective Business Writing For Executives’. It covers all the basics of written communication that both managers and executives need to know and master for successful careers. The course lays the foundations for future professional writing by starting with basic business writing rules and principles and applying these to the composition of formal letters, e-mails, reports, literature reviews, summaries, and critiques and proposals. Thus, for example, business writing that follow the general format provided in this book provide the groundwork for later courses on ‘Effective Business Writing For Managers’ that covers in-depth on the purposes of various types of writing in the course of an employees’ career

If your work entails working behind a desk, then you are certainly expected to harness all your writing skills to communicate with your co-workers and other stakeholders who can range from your immediate superiors, your peers, subordinates and your external stakeholders. Written communication involves expressing yourself clearly by using language with precision; constructing a logical argument; writing business papers, note taking, editing, summarising, writing reports, writing e-mails and snail mails.

Mr. Loganathan is an experienced Facilitator with 25 years as a Military officer in the SAF.

He has extensive working experience in minute-writing and business communication skills.

Logan possesses 3 Masters; Master of Business Administration from University of Western Australia, Master of Arts (Instructional Design Technology) from Nanyang Technological University and Master of Training and Development from Griffith University, Queensland, Australia.
